WORKSHOP ON LOW ALTITUDE UAV PHOTOGRAMMETRY FOR ENGINEERS AND GEOSCIENTISTS

Bailon Golutin.

Tujuan bengkel ini adalah memperkenalkan kegunaan dan kepentingan UAV kepada para jurutera dan para geosainstis. Berikut beberapa cebisan nota ringkas yang dipetik daripada slide yang di paparkan semasa bengkel itu.

"OBJECTIVE"

1. Able to UNDERSTAND the importance of UAV mission planning for safe UAV mission execution.

2. Able to RECOGNIZE the UAV acquisition parameters and the quality of the images and overall data quality.

3. Able to SELECT appropriate UAV mission area and UAV acquisition parameters to fulfill the needs/aims of the aerial survey.

4. Able to OUTLINE the UAV mission workflow before and during in the field.

5. Able to ASSESS/EVALUATE the UAV path by considering obstacles such as building, terrain, trees, high power transmission, UAV limitations, safety and regulations.

6. Able to EXECUTE the UAV plan mission as specified above to fulfill the needs/aims of the mission.

"CASE STUDY BACKGROUND"

1. Objective of his case study is to determine the difference of the DSM produced when using GCP and without GCP in processing the data obtained from the drone.

2. Ground control points are set up within the study area and the coordinates of each point are measured using GPS device.

3. The coordinates are measured using Real Time Kinematic (RTK) technique as it is time effective and able to render reliable results.

4. Data processed with GCP provides better outcome, with less error which is acceptable.

WHAT IS PHOTOGRAMMETRY?

Derived from three Greek words : PHOTOS meaning light, GRAMMA meaning something seen or written, and METRON meaning to measure or "light-writing measurement".

Definition :

"Photogrammetry is the art, science, and technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and the environment through the processes of recording, measuring, and interpreting photographic images and patterns of efectromagnetic radiant energy and other phenomena" (ASPRS,1980)
